Greggs have launched vegan-friendly hot cross buns

Image
Greggs have added to their plant-based range with vegan-friendly hot cross buns, so now everyone can enjoy the classic Easter treat. While Easter is still well over a month away, it’s almost impossible to have not caught sight of an Easter egg or treat in your local supermarket. From Baileys Strawberries and Cream egg to chocolate eggs infused with Prosecco and gin, Easter egg flavours appear to get even more decadent and obscure every year. Hot cross buns are another classic sweet treat that haven’t been able to escape being meddled with. Have you read about Aldi’s new sticky toffee pudding hot cross buns? But for those following a plant-based diet, Easter can be a tricky time of year to indulge at the same pace as others because the options are more limited. Described as ‘irresistibly soft’, these hot cross buns have an orang...

Primark’s brand new hair range includes an amazing £12 hairdryer

Image
Primark has been making waves in the beauty world lately, and the new Andrew Fitzsimons x Primark hair range looks set to continue the trend. Credit: Primark The collection, which dropped into stores February 24, is a collaboration with celebrity hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons, who tends to the tresses of Hollywood actresses, supermodels and most famously of all The Kardashians. The range includes hair care, tools, styling sprays and accessories, and with prices ranging from £2 for a tail comb to electrical tools, we predict this could be another sell-out collaboration for the Irish retail giant. Possibly the best bargains of all are the three electrical tools – a hair straightener, curler and dryer that looks more than a little bit like a certain very famous dryer from a very famous British company – but at £12, less than 5% of the price. Primark x AF Hairdryer, £12 (Credit: Primark) All the tools look pretty in their pink and white packaging and come with built in hair-prote...

Coronavirus and schools: everything you need to know - plus how to talk to children about the health crisis

Image
When huge global health crises hit the headlines, it's only normal to experience a bit of anxiety. But if your children do catch wind of the coronavirus news, it’s easy to imagine how scary it might be for them to hear about. Hearing about scary, seemingly unending world events can be overwhelming for our kids, particularly if they aren’t able to fully comprehend what it means. As parents, we’re there to guide and support them through these kind of things. But when it comes to worldwide health issues, which even we might not fully understand, it can be difficult to explain things in a way that doesn’t scare them. In that case, it can even be tempting to just pretend to them that it’s not happening. However, it’s always best to be honest with your little ones. Especially as worries over the virus seem to continually be growing and their day-to-day lives might be affected. So here’s what you need to know about schools response to the corona virus, plus how to speak to kids about ...

Chickenpox: what are the symptoms and treatment?

Image
Most children will have chickenpox at some point before they're 10 and although uncomfortable, most cases aren't serious. Credit: Westend61/REX/Shutterstock Cases of the chickenpox infection have even decreased dramatically in recent years, with a notable 85% decrease between 2005 and 2014. What is chickenpox? Chickenpox is a viral infection, that is spread quickly and easily between children – so it’s a common illness for little ones to go through. The NHS say: ‘Children usually catch chickenpox in winter and spring, particularly between March and May,’ so it’s worth being extra vigilant around these times. As it’s hugely contagious (around 90 per cent of people who’ve never had it will develop it if put in contact with the virus) it’s very hard to prevent your child from contracting it. When your child goes through it, there are some questions that every mum needs answers to – and fast. Here we explain symptoms, causes, treatments. Chickenpox symptoms: what does chi...
