Tasty little dumplings in a rich creamy sauce

A recipe for one of those spring evenings that prove chillier than expected. Serves 3

Bring 500ml of milk to the boil in a saucepan, add 2 bay leaves and 6 lightly crushed black peppercorns. Flatten, but don’t peel, 3 cloves of garlic. Add to the milk, then remove from the heat, cover with a lid and set aside to infuse.
