Soap star Charley Webb hits back at mum-shamers after they criticise her parenting
Charley Webb has hit back at mum-shamers who criticised her parenting.
The Emmerdale star, who has played Debbie Dingle in the ITV soap since 2002, shares three sons with co-star husband Matthew Wolfenden, who has played David Metcalfe in the show since 2006.
The pair welcomed their third child together, two-month-old Ace, back in July and are also parents to nine-year-old Buster and three-year-old Bowie.
But the 31-year-old mum has now opened about mum-shaming, revealing that she has been hit by trolls and how she deals with them.
‘Mainly I just block it out,’ she told OK! Magazine. ‘I’m not really interested in what anyone else thinks. Everyone parents differently.
‘Matthew and I are big on routines,’ she continued, ‘but I won’t judge parents who aren’t.’
The mum-of-three said that doesn’t feel that people should get to have a say in her life just because she is in the public eye.
‘If you’re in the public eye people think they’ve got a right to say things to you,’ she said. ‘They don’t!
‘These people comment just to get a response,’ she continued. ‘I find that so bizarre and I don’t respond.’
The soap star also said that she is ‘very protective’ over her three sons.
‘I’m a very protective mum anyway,’ she explained. ‘It’s an animal instinct. I’m constantly worrying about them’.
The TV star has previously been candid about her experiences with motherhood and childbirth, revealing that as well as suffering from morning sickness throughout her pregnancy, she was also left with another condition that caused her agony.

‘I still get waves of sickness,’ the mum told OK! Magazine back in June, ‘but I’ve also been diagnosed with SPD [symphysis pubis dysfunction, which affects your pelvis and back].’
‘It’s when your muscles have relaxed too much ready for the birth. It’s agony.’
‘I’d be lying if I said I really enjoy the experience of getting bigger but I appreciate what my body is doing,’ she added.
‘I think pregnancy is amazing’.
